Sprout win DreamHack Leipzig WinterNational

With a 2-0 victory over expert in the grand final of the DreamHack Leipzig WinterNational (16-8 Dust2, 16-11 Cache), Sprout secured the trophy as well as $5,650 in prize money.

The DreamHack Leipzig WinterNational was a four-team, DACH-region-based LAN tournament that took place at Leipzig, Germany, with $11,300 up for grabs.

Sprout take the title at the domestic competition

The one-day event started with BO1 semi-final matches, and both of them went the distance. Sprout only edged out Unicorns of Love 16-14, while ALTERNATE aTTaX were upset by expert on Cache, losing in overtime 22-20. After ALTERNATE aTTaX stomped Unicorns of Love in the third-place decider, 16-3, the grand final between Sprout and expert took place.

Things kicked off on Dust2, where expert took the first two rounds as CT, but ended the half with only three in total, Sprout controlling the game from the Terrorist side (12-3). expert winning the first four rounds after the switch gave them a chance in the match, but they only managed to reach the 13-8 mark before Denis "⁠denis⁠" Howell and co. closed it out.

Cache followed a similar pattern as expert once again grabbed the first two rounds on the defensive side, but couldn't establish themselves in the first half. With Sabit "⁠mirbit⁠" Coktasar leading the charge, Sprout finished the half 11-4 up. After switching to the Terrorist side, expert did put up a fight, making the score as close as 12-11 at one point, but Sprout didn't allow them to take the lead and closed out the series then and there, 16-11.
